June is Service and Support Administration Month!

Greetings from Lavelle Road!! We have a new SSS on board, Sunday Franklin. She is not new to the DD world. Sunday worked for APSI, covering Athens County for six years prior to coming to the County Board. Sunday is married, has two children and lives in Cheshire, Ohio. Sunday states she is looking forward to working in Athens.

On April 8, 2011, our department took a day for team building. Three collages were created as part of a group effort to display at the SSS office. Problem solving, trust building, and serving others were topics covered. This day proved to be a refresher for the department and created a bond of unity for all.

This year, our day for honoring our residential providers will not be in July. After a survey last year, it was determined that a cooler month might be better for the residential providers and the individuals they serve. Instead, we will have the event on October 20, 2011 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the “Putt People First Park”. This is the third year to give out awards and kudos to thank those people who give their time, energy and care to our individuals. The day has been a huge success; and, it is so exciting and rewarding to the SSS staff to be able to show others how much their dedication means to our department and the County board. Everyone is invited to attend throughout the County Board, so mark it on your calendars!

This past year has been full of changes (and stress!) but the individuals we serve are our focus and why we do what we do. “People may not always remember what you say or what you do, but they will remember how you made them feel”. We choose to do our best for those we serve and let them know we truly care about their lives.
