Beacon School

Beacon School, home of the Beacon Rays, proudly serves as a specialized educational resource for the five local school districts of Athens County. Our program is dedicated to supporting children within these districts who have identified developmental disabilities, providing a nurturing and inclusive environment to help them thrive.

Our preschool program is thoughtfully designed to nurture the developmental and educational needs of children aged 3 to 5. With a focus on fostering pre-academic skills, creativity through art and music, and group activities, we aim to build a strong foundation for lifelong learning. Our four-year-old program also embraces inclusivity by welcoming typically developing peers to learn and grow alongside children with developmental disabilities.

For students aged 6 to 21, Beacon School offers a comprehensive program that emphasizes practical and personal growth. We focus on essential areas such as functional academics, pre-vocational skills, socialization, daily living, adaptive physical education, and fine and gross motor development. Recreation and leisure activities are also integral, helping students build skills that empower them for both the present and the future.

At Beacon School, we are committed to fostering a supportive, and engaging educational experience for every child.
