Beacon School Security

Since the shocking school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in December, we have been working to increase the security in our school building for our students and staff. Beginning Monday, March 11th, all outside doors will be locked during the school day. All staff, parents, university students, volunteers, guests, and other visitors to Beacon School will be required to enter the school through the front door, after your identity is verified and the door is unlocked by the school receptionist.

Beacon Staff, Educational Aides and student volunteers must have their identity badges visible before they enter the building. Parents, guests, and visitors may be asked to show identification before the door is unlocked. If parents/guardians are going to a classroom they will need a visitor’s badge.  All visitors must sign in/out on large notebook and obtain a visitor’s badge. All visitor badges are to be returned to the basket located on front office ledge.

If you have any questions or comments about our increased school security, please contact me. I apologize for any inconvenience our new security procedure may cause and ask for your cooperation and understanding that these measures are designed to keep our school safe for our students.
