Job Posting: Physical Therapist

The ACBDD has an opening for a Physical Therapist. This position is located at Beacon School, 801 W. Union Street in Athens. The minimum salary is $59,454.62 and comes with an excellent benefits package, including comprehensive health and life insurance, generous paid time off, and participation in OH Public Employee Retirement System (OPERS). This position is for the academic year, 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree minimum from an accredited institution in physical therapy
  • Current Ohio Physical Therapist license
  • Current State of Ohio Department of Education Pupil Services License
  • Valid Ohio Driver’s license and ability to pass BCI and FBI background checks
  • Minimum two years of experience preferred (school or Developmental Disability setting preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of physical therapy principles, evidence-based practice and clinical decision making in school settings
  • Ability to develop and manage a comprehensive school-based physical therapy program, including eligibility determination, intervention planning, progress monitoring, and discharge
  • Skill in administering and interpreting assessments to design individualized, outcome-based interventions
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations, confidentiality standards, and professional compliance requirements
  • Strong communication, collaboration, organizational, and time-management skills among a diverse population
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation and reporting
  • Ability to perform essential physical job functions, including lifting/transferring students and managing equipment
  • Ability to work independently with initiative and minimal supervision

Duties:

  • Collaborate with health care providers, school personnel, and families to ensure coordinated and effective service delivery
  • Evaluate students, interpret findings, and communicate results to multidisciplinary teams
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the Evaluation Team Report (ETR), Individualized Education Program (IEP) and Individualized Service Plans (ISP)
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized physical therapy interventions to support student & enrollee success and participation
  • Train staff in physical management strategies within school routines
  • Recommend and support assistive technology, adaptive equipment, and environmental modifications
  • Assist with transportation planning and school accessibility
  • Support student transitions and promote independence from therapy services when appropriate
  • Maintain compliant records, documentation, and program reporting
  • Develop and maintain procedures, goals, and quality assurance processes and equipment inventory
  • Serve as a resource to parents, staff, and administrators
  • Maintain requirements for professional licensure and certifications
