An important update from the ACBDD

Dear ACBDD Staff and Community Members,

The health and safety of the individuals we serve is our highest priority.  This has been driving our actions since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and it will continue to be our priority.

Due to the continued and worsening community spread of COVID-19 in our county, we will close our buildings to the public and cease all non-essential in-person activities until further notice.  Services will continue (as they have since March), just in a virtual way.  There will be some exceptions for departments that have to be in-person.

For Individuals We Serve:
We are here for you.  The ACBDD exists to support you and to help you stay healthy.  We encourage you to reach out with any questions or concerns you may have.  As with everyone, please limit social interactions.  Also, remember to diligently wash your hands with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds.  Social distancing and hand washing are the two most effective ways to prevent the spread of this illness.  In addition, it is important to wear a mask in public, if you are able.  Please call us if you need anything during normal business hours or any time after hours at (740) 447-0710.

For Agency & Independent Providers:
First off, thank you again for what you do and how well you do it.  We have seen your unwavering commitment to the individuals we serve, and we are proud of the work that you do.  We also understand that no single agency can face this alone.  Our staff are here to support you and to help you through this difficult time.  We will continue to share resources as we are able, listen to your concerns, and encourage a countywide team approach to ensure everyone’s health and welfare.  We are in this together.  Please call us if you need anything during normal business hours or any time after hours at (740) 447-0710.

For Beacon Families and Beacon Staff:
Virtual learning and food deliveries will continue.  We are developing a plan for how this will impact instructional staff.  More information will be coming from Beacon School/Becky very soon as they work to allow staff to transition.  Please call us if you need anything during normal business hours or any time after hours at (740) 447-0710.

For Partner Agencies:
The ACBDD will continue to offer services and work with you as normal, but all our buildings will be closed to the public.  Please call us if you need anything during normal business hours or any time after hours at (740) 447-0710.

For Community Groups That Use ACBDD Facilities:
Our facilities will remain closed to the public until further notice.

For ACBDD Board Members:
We will continue to host our board meetings virtually.

For Other ACBDD Staff Members:
As mentioned in an earlier email, we will be adjusting our staff routines.  Beginning no later than Monday, December 7 (and until further notice), all divisions of the County Board will be working remotely ONLY.  There will be exceptions for departments that have to be in-person (such as transportation, meals, and maintenance).  This will be similar to our operations from last spring.  During this work-at-home period, it is critical that you remain available to the individuals we serve.  Please reference my email from earlier today for additional details.

These steps are being taken as precautionary measures to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 and protect the individuals we serve.  We will continue to monitor the situation and adjust accordingly.  This is a very fluid situation, so we will make additional announcements as necessary.

Most importantly, we will continue to meet the needs and serve individuals with disabilities (and our staff) in a safe manner.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Respectfully,
Kevin Davis, Ed.D.
ACBDD Superintendent
